About The Fiber Shop

The Fiber Shop specializes in knitting by offering geniune customer service, a wide selection of yarns, patterns, books and accessories. We will help you find patterns to use with a new yarn you just fell in love with or special order yarn and other knitting items. Our beginner and intermediate knitting classes, with some evening and Saturday classes, will improve your confidence and raise you to that next level of knitting. For those of you that don't really need a class but just a little help now and then we also offer Sit and Knit sessions where you come in, visit with us and others, and to get some assistance when you need it.

The Fiber Shop has been in existence since 1978 and plan to stay in business many more years.

In 1997 we moved to a new location, 901 East Kimberly Road, Davenport, IA, 52807. We really didn't want to move, but new landlords bought the building we had occupied for almost 20 years and would not renew our lease.

In 2000 we moved to a new location, 2105 Currant, Bloomington, IL 61704. Once again we didn't want to move but Sheri's husband's job took them to Bloomington. We are happy with our new location and encourage everyone to call and/or visit us. We all hope we are done moving for a long, long time!

Thanks to all the customers and friends that have stayed with us over our moves and to the new customers we have picked up along our journey. We wish you all the best.

The shop is owned by Nancy Kaplan and Sheri Kinman, a mother-daughter team that has been knitting over 65 years. The Fiber Shop has been an exhibitor at TKGA and Stitches conventions and is active in our local Knitting Guild chapter.
